The most enchanting thing about Asian henna parties are the vibrant colours, scented garlands and glistening thread work on the clothes. Details are the key to personalising your event, and from the many weddings I’ve shot not one has been similar to another. I really believe it all comes down to the small touches that personalise the event, adding character.

Soha had the most divine scented fresh jasmine floral earrings accented with ruby rose buds, garlands, bracelets and beautiful golden oil lamps that perfumed the event into something exotic and timeless. Something as simple as co-ordinated bridesmaids outfits or corsages for the men creates a synchronised effect in photos. Detail shots capture the essence and feel of the event, gold thread weaved basket presenting bangles handed out as gifts are the perfect way to thank guests for attending as well as adding a splash of culture and colour to your photos.

Below are a few tips:

  • As Mehndis are generally smaller, adding hand written notes to each guest on their plate is a lovely way to make your guests feel extra special.
  • A great addition to any Mehndi is a large potted tree/plant and hang the bangles off the branches so friends and family can go and help themselves, add a variety of kids sizes and adult sizes.
  • Have a themed dessert bar where people can stash up on their favourites for the evening. You can buy all sorts of fun striped sweet bags, signs and stands from websites like www.etsy.com or www.ebay.com.

Adding finer details adds another dimension to your photos, giving the photographer opportunities to capture whilst the guests are eating!

Happy planning! x
